------------------- AAAAAAAAAAAAAH ITS FINALLY DONE. ;-; I'm proud of this one, yous guys! The other day I watched a couple of Miyazaki films (can you tell?) and just really, REALLY wanted to draw me some big old honkin' trees. I've really been slacking off drawing backgrounds and I can't have Spanky 1 and 2 showing me up! SO. HERE, HAVE A BACKGROUND! Also there is a stupid deer in it. I tried a few brand new things in this picture! For one, I colored the picture at its original size, which is: REALLY FREAKIN' HUGE. I learned that it's so much easier to do textures and little details when you're not working with a line of pixels the size of a hair. I used two texture filters but once I had them in, I blurred them, played with the opacity, and colored over them so that they could fill up some of the boring, naked-looking flats that were on here. I think they added something to the picture when used sparingly like Mr. Dodge and Mrs. Burn tool. I also tried a new sort of lighting I see so often in really pretty pictures that have sunshine in them-- I flat-out ERASED some of the line art where the strongest highlights are. I think it keeps my lineart and my fully digital backgrounds from clashing so horribly. I learned a lot so...yay for Wolfy! I think I'll try another eventually. PS. I HATE HOW LUMPY HIS ANTLERS ARE. |

I love how you did the trunk of the tree and those butterflies, and just UNGHHGNNNN THIS REALLY LOOKS NICE.
I think you've definitely got the right idea with erasing the lineart in some spaces, although it looks a little odd on Wystic there going from NO lines to BOLD LINES right off the bat. Maybe a more gradual fade would be better.
But it still looks positively wonderful!

It looks outstanding. <3 I'm so glad you did something you get to be proud of! And there's a lot of color improvement here. Coloring bigger and trying new tricks did wonders for your digital art and I loooove the sunbeams.
I love the new way you colored Deerbutt too, he looks like he's got so much more dimension!
